UCN & the UWin CREATE Consortium

UCN is finalizing their role in a project that will see the formation of a new research consortium called “UWin CREATE” (The University of Winnipeg Commercialization Research and Education Alliance for Technology and the Environment). UWin CREATE will include a distributed network of Cisco Tele-Presence sites, which will provide world-class immersive videoconferencing capabilities to support the research and development, learning, and innovation objectives/
activities of the Alliance.

Plans are for two Tele-Presence nodes at the University of Winnipeg, one at Brandon University, one at UCN and one in Ottawa - proposed for the International Institute of Sustainable Development.
The project will also see the establishment of a Research Chair in Collaborative Technologies and the establishment of 27 new combined teaching/research labs at the Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex that will support the work of the Alliance.

Primary partners are University of Winnipeg, Brandon University and the University College of the North. UCN is committed to participating in this collaborative effort and believes that it will yield significant benefit for students, UCN and environmental research across the region.
